Ann Gosline spends part of her year in Maine and part in the mountains south of Tucson, Arizona. After practicing law as an advocate and later as a mediator for 15 years, Ann began focusing on bringing the public and private sectors together to find ways to solve or manage tough problems. Over the past two decades, Ann has worked on projects addressing natural resource and land use issues, such as watershed restoration, transportation planning, wind power siting, wetlands regulation, fisheries management and trans-boundary marine protected areas, and carbon emission reduction strategies. She also has extensive experience working on health care system reform and access to health care. Ann has mediated and arbitrated disputes involving government agencies, health care providers, public broadcasting and non-profit organizations, and institutions of higher learning on strategic planning and organizational effectiveness. Gosline co-chaired a blue ribbon committee that produced Guidelines for the Design of Integrated Conflict Management Systems within Organizations, published by Cornell University Press, 2001.
Ann is currently working with NGOs to develop projects to advance our scientific understanding of the complex ways in which urban forests, agroforestry, and wildland forests interact with climate. This information will help governments, organizations and communities choose “sweet spot” strategies that both mitigate climate change and help adapt to the effects of a changing climate. Ann is also working with a regional habitat restoration project in the American Southwest that seeks to implement new funding and community support strategies for long-term sustainability.
